Chachkas 48/52 and 49/52!

If anyone knows how to fix this let me know!

My mom told me there is no sound on my conducting video from my previous post.  I’m not sure why because I have sound when I play it on my computer from the blog.  It’s a bit low so I have to turn my volume up, but it is there.  I don’t know how to fix this!!!!

Chachka 48/52:  Keroppi Refillable Date Book

I believe I got this from my bestest friend Gabi years ago.  It says 1988 so I may have received it then.  At that time, I was 9 years old.  Gabi and I met when I was in 2nd grade and have been best friends ever since.  I still remember meeting her.  She lived across the street from me.  My brother and I were out riding bikes.   If I remember correctly he was riding my old pink Barbie bike.  Oh, the woes of a younger brother getting hand me downs from his older sister!  I think Gabi was struggling with her bike riding and we helped her out.  At this time in my life I knew how to ride a bike.  I didn’t even have a “bike face.”  (See my previous post if you don’t know what a bike face is.)  From then on, we were inseparable.  She was clever and funny and still is.  She was from an immigrant family like mine.  I know some Brazilian Portuguese from spending time with her and her family.  We used to sit at the table in her kitchen to see who could make each other laugh hard enough to cause milk to squirt out of your nose.  We had and will continue to have many adventures over the years but I must get back to the item I am selling.  So, I really enjoyed the cartoon character Keroppi simply because of his looks.  I think he’s adorable.  I’ve never even seen the show…for all I know he could be a she.  I had a plastic Keroppi wallet for a while…I think it is preserved in a scrapbook.  So, this was a great gift and now hopefully I raise money for charity with it.

I found some info on wikipedia about this mysterious Keroppi!

Keroppi Hasunoue (はすの上 けろっぴ Hasunoue Keroppi?) is a frog character with large eyes and a V-shaped mouth. Keroppi loves adventure, and his bubbly personality makes him popular around Donut Pond. He has a brother called Koroppi and a sister called Pikki. Most often he is seen with his little snail friend Den Den, always tagging along a little behind. Keroppi is a fantastic swimmer and singer (but not at the same time.) Keroppi has appeared in two video games: Kero Kero Keroppi no Bouken Nikki and Kero Kero Keroppi no Daibouken. Keroppi was created in 1987 and his birthday is on July 10. His hometown is Donut Pond.

A poem from Gabi is on its way I hope!

Chachka 49/52:  Do It!  Play Alto Saxophone Book 2

During this past semester in music school I took a class titled “Teaching Woodwinds.”  This is a methods class where we learn to play and teach all of the woodwind instruments.  I never had too much trouble with my previous methods classes.  I was pretty good with brass, percussion and strings.  Woodwinds was a different story.  I was downright awful at all of the woodwind instruments.  I wasn’t so bad with flute and bassoon but the rest were atrocious!  Luckily, the prof knew I was trying hard and took pity on me most of the time.  I want to offer a thanks to my husband for having to listen to me attempt to play these instruments so horribly.  I had to buy method books for each instrument and by mistake I bought book 2, instead of 1, for alto saxophone.  I didn’t realize the mistake until I played alto sax half way thru the semester.  I enjoyed playing alto sax although I had one major issue.  I played everything a half step flat no matter what I did to try and adjust my embouchure.  If you know anything about music you know that this would sound awful in a group of players.  I learned what I need to learn anyways.  If I ever teach band I will have to bring someone in to class, use recordings or an advanced student for demos, that’s for sure.

And now I will play the alto sax for you…just kidding…I wouldn’t do that to you…here’s a bit of a Janis Joplin song where I really don’t know some of the words…
